Haig is the Managing Director at Health Matters and has been working as an Exercise Therapist for over 13 years and has helped cardiac patients, patients with high cholesterol, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, post-physiotherapy patients and many others, to incorporate the appropriate and safe exercise regimen for improved overall health, and disease and injury prevention. He was born and raised in Montreal, Canada which is where he began his career. He is living and working in Dubai for the past 9 years. You will benefit from Haig’s theoretical and academic background which is well grounded with a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health promotion from California University, Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in biology and a second Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science specializing in Athletic Therapy and Clinical Exercise Physiology both from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. More specifically, he has undergone training in human anatomy, human physiology, exercise physiology, pathophysiology, health promotion, human behavior, biomechanics, nutrition, specialized exercise prescription, pediatric exercise, athletic therapy, assessment and rehabilitation of the spine and pelvis, assessment and rehabilitation of extremities, adapted physical activity for populations with special needs and many more.
Haig is a licensed exercise therapist. This is a medical license issued by the Dubai Health Authority which is the body that licenses physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, etc… Haig is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), a recognized certification with strict guidelines requiring a related university degree and with requirements of continuing education units (CEU’s) to retain the certified status. This certification is issued by the world recognized National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Additionally, and just as important, Haig’s practical, hands on experience is extensive with over 13 years of coaching, fitness training and health counseling. He has always been athletic, playing European football and ice hockey at a highly competitive level from a very young age. He has recently also participated in fitness competitions.
